Escala Winter is a pixie princess of the Court of Dreams who grew up following draconian old laws. As the daughter of House Winter, she’s expected to uphold obedience to the True Cycle: the sacred flow that governs life, death, and rebirth across realms. But Escala is curious to a fault. If Escala succeeds, she might earn the right to return home: changed, diminished, but hopefully wiser. If she fails, the exile becomes permanent, and the damage she sets in motion may spread beyond repair. Escala must now decide who she is willing to become when no choice comes without loss.
